Gardaí have begun a new traffic operation this morning to ensure compliance with the public health restrictions in the run-up to the Bank Holiday weekend.
Thousands of checkpoints are being put in place nationwide as part of Operation Fanacht.
Gardaí will be also be patrolling parks and tourists spots.
The operation began at 7am this morning – and will continue up to and including Bank Holiday Monday, May the 4th.
Seven people were arrested for failing to follow COVID-19 laws over the Easter Weekend.
