The number of Covid-19 cases in the north west has risen to 398.

The latest figures have confirmed that there are now 296 cases in Donegal, 62 in Sligo and 40 in Leitrim.

The death toll from the virus has risen by 38 to 444, while total cases now stands at 12,547.

Two healthcare workers in Kilkenny have died after testing positive for coronavirus.

In a statement, the Ireland East Hospital Group, which operates St. Luke’s, confirmed the deaths of two of it’s staff and extended its sympathies to the families of both people.

The Chief Medical Officer says the criteria for testing of Covid-19 will likely be relaxed next week.

It comes as the numbers presenting at test centres has fallen significantly in recent days.

Only those with underlying conditions and who’re displaying symptoms are eligible for a test.
