Childcare workers may not be paid in time for Easter

Early Childhood operators across the North West are seeking urgent clarification on wage subsidy scheme for childcare sector.

The Organisation fears workers in one-third of childcare settings across the country may go unpaid over Easter.

Early Childhood Ireland, has called for an urgent update from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs on the proposed government Wage Subsidy Scheme for the sector.

Claire Barden from ‘Learn Early Montessori Academy & Creche’ in Ballymote says the lack of payment is forcing staff to sign on for Covid-19 payments and is putting the future relationship between employers and employees at risk for the future.
