St Patrick’s Day Parades likely to go ahead

It now seems that the planned St Patrick’s Day Parades in the North West will go ahead on March 17th.

Guidelines on mass gatherings are expected to be issued in the coming days from the Department of Health.  However early indications are suggesting that the St Patrick’s Day celebrations will go ahead.

The news comes as a second case of Coronavirus has been identified in the Republic.

The patient is a female based in the east of the country who recently travelled back from Northern Italy.

Travel advice has been updated to avoid all non-essential travel to four regions in Northern Italy.

Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health Dr Tony Holohan says the risk of the infection spreading here is low.
