Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal in for a cold snap with snow and ice



Sub zero temperatures are forecast for tonight as the cold snap looks set to continue.

Another weather warning is now in place, just hours after a nationwide snow/ice warning was lifted.

At nine o’clock this morning, a snow/ice warning for the entire country was lifted.

But Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo will be on alert for wintry conditions for a little while longer.

A fresh status yellow snow/ice warning is now in place for those counties, and the whole country is in for a chilly night tonight.

Cathal Nolan – from Ireland’s Weather Channel – says road conditions could deteriorate as the evening goes on:

And that from Friday, the heavy rain will return for the whole weekend:

For this afternoon and this evening, it’ll be cold with scattered showers across the country, and lows tonight of minus two degrees.
