There are almost 50 new safety camera zones on roads throughout County Donegal.
They are among the 900 new zones announced yesterday by An Garda Siochana.
There are now about 60 areas in County Donegal where safety camera zones are in effect.
Forty-six of these are new from yesterday.
They include roads where there have been fatal, serious and minor collisions.
Among these are regional, national and urban roads and streets, as well as one local road, the L1931.
In County Sligo, there are 17 new zones.
Among them is one local road, L2605.
New zones are also on a number of national and regional roads — in some cases there’s more than one new zone, such as the N15, which is the worst in the county for collisions, as well as the N17 and N4.
In County Leitrim, there’s eight new zones, including on two local roads, L7428 and 1601.
Details of the zones and their lengths can be found on the Garda web site.
But drivers out on the road, be warned – – – there will be no advance signs warning of the new speed enforcement zones.
And gardai are also asking drivers not to flash their lights to warn others of the presence of speed vans.
