Over 50,000 Euro is being allocated for coastal protection works in Co. Sligo.

€46,800 of the funds, from the Office of Public Work’s ‘Minor Works’ programme, is going towards building a 200m long, 1m high, skirting wall along Mardyke Road in Cartron which will be part of a final 500m long structure.

A further €6,300 is funding a study of Finned River in Easkey to access works are needed there.

Welcoming the news, Fine Gael TD, Frank Feighan, says the Mardyke Road is very prone to flooding.
