Shane Ellis has become the first Fianna Fáil candidate to be eliminated from the 2020 Sligo-Leitrim constituency, following Count 11.
His 3,398 are now being distributed amongst the seven remaining candidates.
Ellis’ running mates Marc MacSharry and Eamon Scanlon are still in contention to win two of the remaining three seats – although the indications are that Scanlon’s seat is increasingly under threat from Fine Gael’s Frank Feighan.
Marian Harkin (Ind) is expected to the be the next candidate to be elected as she closes in on the quota of 12,137.
