Sligo hurlers make winning start to league

Sligo hurlers made a winning start to their Allianz League Division 3B campaign on Saturday with a 3-18 to 1-15 win against Lancashire at Markievicz Park.

The home side were missing a number of regulars, including Conor Griffin who broke his thumb playing for the county’s footballers in Ruislip last weekend.

While it wasn’t a vintage Sligo display, Daithí Hand’s side never looked in serious trouble against their opponents.

Keith Raymond top scored for Sligo with a personal tally of 1-6.

Sligo were beaten finalists in Division 3B last year. They are determined to go one better this season.

Their next game is against Fermanagh in Brewster Park on February 16th.
