Mumps cases diagnosed in north west



A number of cases of mumps have been diagnosed in the north west, mainly in secondary schools.,

It has led to the HSE urging anyone aged between 11 and 30 who has not had two doses of the MMR vaccine to avail of the offer of a free dose to combat what it describes as ‘a significant rise in cases.’

Secondary schools and third-level institutions have had the highest incidences of mumps, which is highly infectious..
