Local Authorities on heightened state of storm alert

In advance of the arrival of Storm Brendan and the expected high tides, Donegal Town Pier was closed yesterday evening and will remain closed until 8 am on Tuesday morning due to a possible risk of flooding

A reminder has been issued that cars will not be permitted to park in the area.

Donegal County Council have activated their Severe Weather Assessment Team and are monitoring and reviewing the evolving situation.

All Council resources are at a heightened state of readiness in preparation for the incoming storm.

Sligo County Council will be monitoring coastal water levels at Gibralter Point and at the Mardyke on the Rosses Point Road and may divert traffic from these roads if necessary at high tide.

The road to Strandhill Beach has also been closed.

The public are advised to exercise due care at coastal locations during the storm and to stay off piers and slipways.
