Major works planned for Enniscrone

More than €600,000 worth of work in the centre of the West Sligo coastal village of Enniscrone is expected to start in the second half of next year, after the peak tourism season.

It follows Enniscrone having been selected a Failte Ireland Tourism Destination Town for 2020.

The project has to go through the Part 8 planning process.

Councillors from the Ballymote/Tubbercurry/West Sligo area at their meeting yesterday afternoon asked that the local community in Enniscrone be involved and kept informed of what’s planned.

Although councillors welcomed the plan, some pointed out it will pose challenges, one of which will be the availability of car parking.

Local county councillor Joe Queenan says the proposed investment is a vote of confidence in Enniscrone.
