Motorists warned of dangerous driving conditions across the north west



A status orange wind warning for the Counties of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal has been lifted.

 

However, motorists and other road users across the region are being asked to beware of fallen trees, branches or electricity wires and fallen slates in urban areas.

 

Locally Council crews were called to deal with a number of fallen trees in the region.

 

In Sligo there is a tree down on the Manorhamilton road, four miles from Sligo.  Gardai and Council staff are currently dealing with situation.

 

A tree is also down on the Strandhill to Ransboro road

 

There is also a tree down just outside Keadue village on the Ballyfarnon Road.

 

The ESB Networks said its crews are dealing with several power outages.

 

Locally there are reports of outages in Donegal Town, Leghowney and Ballytivnan.

 

Parts of the southwest among the worst affected, following Storm Atiyah.
