A Sligo/Leitrim TD says organic farmers throughout the north west are being being refused payments they applied for under a special scheme.
Fianna Fail says it has figures showing that 75% of applications under the Organic Farming Scheme were rejected last year.
Deputy Eamon Scanlon said one unsuccessful applicant was a green certified farmer and understands the importance of farming in harmony with nature, having been a REPS and now a GLAS farmer.
Deputy Scanlon says some of the unsuccessful organic farmers had invested in their business, did education courses and even bought special cattle.
