With the numbers of deer increasing on local roads, a Leitrim councillor is calling on the county council to erect more signs to warn motorists of the dangers posed by the animals.
Fine Gael Councillor Frank Dolan made the call at this month’s meeting of councillors from the Manorhamilton Municipal District.
Cllr Dolan says some roads in North Leitrim are particularly dangerous, adding that motorists are not covered by insurance if they are involved in an accident with deer.
