Clean sweep for Donegal clubs in Ulster

The prominence of club football in Donegal at provincial level was underlined again at the weekend with the county’s senior, intermediate and junior champions all winning their respective Ulster club championship games.

Naomh Conaill showed few ill-effects from their recent county-final ‘arm wrestle’ with Gweedore at Kingspan Breffni in running out 1-11 to 0-11 winners against Cavan champions Castlerahan. The win sets up an Ulster semi-final meeting with Down champions Kilcoo in two weeks time.

St Naul’s are through to the last four of the province’s intermediate championship after a spirited 2-10 to 1-10 win against Antrim champions Aldergrove with Player of the Match Peader Mogan contributing 1-4 of his side’s tally. Naul’s will face Galbally of Tyrone in the semis.

On Saturday evening, Donegal junior champions Buncrana won a penalty shoot-out against The Rock (Tyrone) to qualify for the Ulster junior final. Blackhill of Monaghan will be their opponents.
