Brave Glencar/Manor bow out



14-man Glencar/Manorhamilton produced an encouraging display in Sunday’s Connacht senior club quarter-final against Ballintubber of Mayo in Castlebar before losing out on a final scoreline of 1-11 to 0-9.

Despite losing Killian McGriskin to two yellow cards, the Leitrim champions asked plenty of questions of the Mayo champions who are managed by Sligo native Kevin Johnson. James Glancy, in particular, was prominent for much of the contest until his withdrawal in the closing quarter.

But Ballintubber, who rested their experienced county star Cillian O’Connor for this game, exerted a little more control in the second-half to run out winners by five points at the end.
