Trolley figures spike in the North West



Both university hospitals in the North West have been ranked within the top 5 worst affected hospitals in the country today.

Sligo University Hospital is the 4th worst affected hospital in the country, with Letterkenny coming in 5th when it comes to trolley figures released by Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.

The figures have recorded that Sligo Hospital has 39 patients waiting on trolleys or chairs with a further 36 waiting in Letterkenny University Hospital.

13 patients are waiting on trolleys in the emergency department in Letterkenny with 23 onwards elsewhere in the hospital while there are 30 people in ED in Sligo and 9 on other wards throughout the hospital.

Nationally, 567 people are being forced to wait for a bed in hospitals across the country with Limerick University Hospital the worst affected again with 51 people.
