A Donegal TD is challenging tech giants over what he says is their failure to protect users from harassment by online posts.
Independent Deputy Thomas Pringle, who was recently appointed to the Dail Committee on Justice and Equality says its a contradiction when Facebook claims to a published when it suits it in court but denies being a published when it comes to abusive posts.
Deputy Pringle says Facebook is taking advantage of a legal loophole which allows it avoid liability for content published on its site.
Deputy Pringle says he will continue to put pressure on Fine Gael to ensure appropriate regulation to make the internet safer for everybody.
