Sligo Gardai arrest a man for dangerous driving following collision with Garda car



Gardaí in Sligo are investigating an incident of dangerous driving which occurred at approximately 9:30pm last night.

 

A vehicle collided with an official Garda car at Second Sea Road, Sligo.

 

In an attempt to evade capture the driver reversed the car onto Strandhill Road at speed, through red lights, and passed a number of junctions.

The car eventually collided with safety barriers before coming to a stop close to School Ursula on the Strandhill Road.

A male was arrested for Dangerous Driving and on suspicion of driving while under the influence of an intoxicant and was brought to Ballymote Garda Station.

 

The man will be charged and brought before Sligo District Court

 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to make contact with local Gardaí.

 

In particular Gardaí want to speak to those who may have ‘Dash Cam Footage.
