Brexit ready message not getting through

Businesses in the north west and border region are ignoring warnings to implement ‘Brexit ready measures ahead of a possible exit from Europe by the UK.

It’s emerged that 58,000 businesses still do not have an Economic Operators Registration Number with only 3 weeks to go until a potential no deal Brexit.

An EORI number is issued by Revenue, and is the minimum requirement for businesses that wish to trade with, or through, the UK following their departure from the EU.

Revenue has confirmed that 94,000 businesses here traded with the UK in 2018.

Commenting on the findings Sligo Leitrim Fianna Fáil TD Eamon Scanlon says there is growing concern that a substantial number of businesses are ill-prepared for a ‘no deal Brexit’ and the Government’s message on being Brexit ready is not getting through to businesses.
