Sligo bid to win first Connacht Senior League title

Sligo will be looking to win their first Connacht Senior Rugby League title when they take on Galwegians in Galway this Saturday.

Currently, both Sligo and Buccanneers sit at the top of the table with 12 points apiece.

If both sides remain level on points after Saturday’s fixtures, the league will be decided on points difference, then tries scored and points scored.

Sligo currently sit on a point difference of +53 which is 29 points ahead of Buccanneers.

Sligo, the only team in the competition not to have won it, opened their league campaign with a comprehensive win over Ballina before a last-minute try by Mata Fifita completed a 14 point comeback to earn that aforementioned draw with Buccaneers in their second outing.

A seventeen-point victory over Corinthians last weekend puts Sligo in the driving seat heading into the final round of fixtures on Saturday.
