Donegal has the second lowest burglary rate in the country



Donegal has the second lowest burglary rate in the country.

According to new figures from PhoneWatch, 3716 burglaries occurred in the county over the past decade.

In total there were almost 7,000 burglaries across the north west region in the past 10 years.

There were 3,716 in Donegal and 3,238 in the Sligo/Leitrim area since 2009 according to new analysis carried out by PhoneWatch.

This is the equivalent to one in every 13 houses being burgled in Sligo and Leitrim and one in every 17 houses in Donegal.

This makes Donegal the second safest county in the country in terms of burglary rates after Mayo.

In total 245,260 burglaries occurred in Ireland between January 2009 and December 2018.
