Doherty slams surgical cancellation figures in Letterkenny



Recent HSE figures have revealed that since 2014 a total of 3,300 In-Patient and Day Case surgical procedures have been cancelled by authorities at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Sinn Féin Finance Spokesperson and Donegal TD Deputy Pearse Doherty has expressed his disappointment with the figures.

Deputy Doherty is calling on the Minister for Health Simon Harris to outline what steps will be taken to reduce the problem of hospital cancellations and to ensure that patients in Letterkenny are not being denied access to treatments.

 

 

Meanwhile there are 48 people waiting on hospital beds in the north west today.

Letterkenny University Hospital has the fifth highest figure in the Country with 36 people currently waiting on a hospital bed. 12 of the patients are waiting in the emergency department.

Meanwhile the number of those waiting at Sligo University Hospital stands at 12. 11 of which are currently in the emergency department.

Nationally there are 485 are waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

University Hospital Galway – 43

Cork University Hospital – 40

South Tipperary General Hospital – 37
