Donegal TD accuses Minister of ‘failing to engage’ with farmers in beef prices dispute

A Donegal TD says the Minister for Agriculture is failing to engage with farmers over the growing crisis in the beef sector.

Members of the Beef Plan Movement are continuing to hold pickets at beef factories throughout the country over beef prices – including at Foyle Meats in Carrigans in Donegal.

The Agriculture Minister Michael Creed is now being called on to engage with farming organisations to address the issues affecting the beef sector.

Fianna Fail spokesperson on Agriculture, Deputy Charlie McConalogue TD says it is simply not acceptable that Minister Creed continues to watch from the sidelines.

Deputy McConalogue says Minister Creed should also facilitate independent mediation between farmers and the processing sector to address the price issue.
