MacSharry urges Conway to withdraw from FAI contest



Sligo Leitrim TD and Fianna Fáil spokesperson on sport, Marc MacSharry is backing calls for the current President of the FAI to withdraw his nomination to be selected as the next long-term president of the association.

The Oireachtas committee on sport will meet today to discuss the FAI.

Sports Minister Shane Ross has already requested  Donal Conway to withdraw his name for the contest.

Minister Ross claims it’s necessary ‘to allow for new leadership in the best interests of football’.

Deputy Marc MacSharry has backed the calls adding now is not the time for the Football Association to select a new long-term President.
