Donegal County Council and its road safety group have been praised for their efforts to promote road safety in the county.
And it’s putting it’s money where its mouth is — in some cases its spending almost 27 times more on the effort than other counties.
From 2014 to 2018, the county council spent more than €521,000 euro on trying to get the message out about road safety and on anti drink-drive artwork, marketing and training.
Donegal has had a reputation for its high rate of road deaths for a number of years — last year there were 10.
But Road Safety Officer with Donegal County Council, Brian O Donnell says they have to keep trying to get the road safety message across.
