It’s emerged that there are currently 30 people are on an indefinite waiting list for insulin pump therapy at Sligo University Hospital.
At present there is no dedicated diabetes pump specialist at the hospital and a further three nurses are on maternity leave which have not been replaced. As a result this has left many patients unsure of their future medical care.
Suzanne Donnelly is a patient with Type 1 Diabetes who attends the hospital for care.
She says despite the best efforts of the diabetes team, there is no one available to administer the care.
