The building of a new sewerage treatment plant in the north Sligo seaside town of Mullaghmore is expected to begin in just under three years time.
The plant is part of a bundle of seven, the other six being in County Donegal — at Muff, Bridgend, Burnfoot, Fahan, Ballyliffin and Dunfanaghy/Portnablagh.
Consulting engineers have been appointed for the scheme, which is at planning and design stage at present.
Construction on the Mullaghmore plant scheduled to start on March 5th 2022.
Independent Alliance Councillor Marie Casserly says it’s good news — but adds that the present tanks need to be emptied regularly until the new plant is up and running.
