Reductions in home care services putting extra strain on hospitals



For the second day running Sligo University Hospital finds itself in the unwanted position of being in the top three of hospitals with patients on trolleys and waiting  for a hospital  beds.

 

According to the latest INMO figures there are currently 31 people waiting on a bed on a bed at Sligo University Hospital which has resulted in them standing joint third in the Country with South Tipperary General Hospital which also has 31 people waiting on a bed.

 

There are 10 people waiting on a bed at Letterkenny University Hospital while the worst  hospitals in the Country are T Cork University Hospital with 51 followed by University Hospital Limerick where there are 36 people waiting on a hospital bed.

 

Fianna Fáil Sligo/Leitrim TD Eamon Scanlon says there is extra strain being put on the resources at Sligo University Hospital due to cut backs in home help resources and step down facilities.
