A local election candidate in Manorhamilton Municipal District is calling on Leitrim County Council to take control of the waste collection service for the entire county.
Residential home owners paying a household charge to their local authority should have a waste collection service provided for their payments according to Green Party candidate Blaithin Gallagher.
Ms Gallagher claims the current situation is resulting in an escalation of charges and is incentivsing fly-tipping and illegal dumping.
