Availability of home-help care a major issue in north Leitrim

A north Leitrim election candidate says the number one issue that’s been raised with her on the doorsteps while out canvassing has been the lack of home-help care for elderly people.

It follows comments last week from Sligo University Hospital cardiologist Dr Donal Murray, who told how a 92 year old man had to remain in hospital for 70 days even though he had been discharged after about a week.

Fianna Fail candidate Mary Bohan says she knew this was a problem – – – but it was brought home to her very forcefully while meeting people when out canvassing.
