Concern over possible flooding at Grange

Farmers and landowners in an area in north Sligo have raised concerns that they may been at risk of flooding due to soil from a nearby construction site being spread on a local flood plain.

It’s claimed waste material from the building of the new Waste Water Treatment Plan in Grange had been distributed on a nearby flood plain putting a number of houses at risk.

A Fianna Fail local election candidate in the area says he has contacted the buildings contractors and notified Sligo County Council and Irish water about the issue.

Donal Gilroy says he is now confident the materials will be removed from the area.
