The major enhancement of O’ Connell Street in Sligo is expected to be completed next year.
Works, which will include the widening of footpaths, finally started this week after a long delay.
It’s understood there is a possibility the town’s main street may be fully pedestrianised in the future.
Director of Services with Sligo County Council Tom Kilfeather has been telling Ocean FM News about the work now underway on the street.
