Calls for local authorities to sign up to ‘All-Ireland Pollinator Plan’

An independent local election candidate is calling on Leitrim and Sligo County Council’s to sign up to the ‘All-Ireland Pollinator Plan’.

The plan aims to and encourage farmers, local authorities, schools, gardeners and businesses, to improve their efforts to ensure bees can survive and thrive.

One third of our bee species are currently threatened with extinction from Ireland.

Jamie Murphy says as local authorities are managers of large area of public land they can make a real difference by taking action like eliminating the use of pesticides.
