RSA advice: Put away the phone while driving

The Road Safety Authority is urging drivers in the north west, ahead of the Easter weekend, to put their mobile phones away while driving so they can focus all their attention on the road.

In the first two months of this year alone almost 5,000 drivers were detected by the Gardaí holding their mobile phone while driving. That represents an increase of 24% in detections compared to the same period last year.

Communications manager with the RSA Brian Farrell has been telling Ocean FM news that motorists that continue to drive and use their mobile phones are putting their own and other road users lives at risk.
