A Donegal election candidate is claiming that more than three-quarters of the money allocated last year for work on a bridge in the county was unspent and returned to the Department of Transport.
Fianna Fail candidate Eimear McGuinness says that of €150,000 allocated for Fintra Bridge in 2018, only €35,572 was spent.
The Killybegs Parish Council member says a new bridge is badly needed as it serves the entire Sliabh Liag Penninsula in Donegal.
She says that when money is allocated, preparations should have been in place to use it.
