Sligo IFA criticises Taisce’s Green-Schools programme

The newly elected chairperson of the Irish Farmers Association in Sligo is criticizing a government initiative which is advising children to reduce the amount of meat they eat.

An Taisce’s Green-Schools programme, which promotes measures to reduce carbon footprints and works towards environmental sustainability, published a climate action resource pack for teachers this week.

The programme also follows comments by the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar that he’s trying to eat meat less as part of his own efforts to reduce his carbon footprint.

Sligo IFA Chairperson Kathleen Henry says the Taoiseach needs to offer more support to farmers.
