Sligo TD says ATM thefts could lead to higher insurance costs

The thefts of ATMs from a number premises in the north of Ireland could lead to even higher insurance premiums for already hard-pressed businesses here.

It follows one shop owner having to remove the ATM from his premises after his insurance premium went from about €3,000 to almost €5,000.

Fianna Fail Deputy Eamon Scanlon says it’s another example of how local communities are being hit because of rising insurance costs for various businesses, including shops, creches and others needing public liability cover.
