Tributes paid to young Summerhill teacher who passed away



The Parents Association in Summerhill College, Sligo has paid tribute to a teacher in her 30’s who passed away last week.

Ms Kellie Leonard took ill at the school on Friday and later passed away at Sligo University Hospital.

At this morning’s meeting of Sligo County Council, Kellie Leonard’s sudden death was described as a shocking tragedy.

A vote of sympathy was proposed by Cllr Marie Casserly, seconded by Cllr Seamus Kilgannon and agreed to unanimously by councillors.

Cllr Casserly said they wished to extend sympathy to the late Miss Leonard’s family and friends and to her colleagues and staff in Summerhill College.

Ms Leonard’s funeral took place Grange earlier today.
