Brexit and the lack of registered accommodation in North Leitrim are believed to the main factors in preventing the Leitrim tourism industry achieving its potential.
Those were just some of the findings from a major tourism meeting in Carrick-on-Shannon this week to review the sector’s performance over the past number of years and explore possible opportunities for tourism in the future.
Joe Lowe, who works in economic development and enterprise with Leitrim County Council, says having proper and sufficient accommodation throughout the county is ‘a must.’
