Brexit causing ‘serious decline’ in tourism to Sligo

Brexit is causing a serious decline in tourism to the Sligo region according to new figures from the Irish Hotel Federation.

The Chair of the IHF’s Sligo branch says a disruptive Brexit would have economic repercussions which would be felt directly by tourism businesses here in Sligo given our heavy reliance on the UK market.

Tourism currently supports 4,900 jobs in Sligo and contributes some €140m to the local economy annually.

Manager of the Clayton Hotel, Fergal Ryan says there is a lack of action by Failte Ireland and the government.
