The well-known Veritas shop in Sligo town is to close.
Veritas is the religious books and gifts retail company of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
The closure of the Sligo outlet, located at Adelaide Street, is one of three to be shut by the end of January as part of a rationalisation process so as to invest in online sales, which increased by 52% this year.
Veritas currently has a nine retail outlets in the country.
The other shops to be closed are in Monaghan and Naas.
The closures involve four fulltime and nine parttime employees.
The Catholic Communications Office says it has done its best to keep job losses to a minimum and is working to relocate staff where possible.
