Emergency operation in Sligo Town after man climbed onto roof

The emergency services were called to Temple Street in Sligo town yesterday evening after a man climbed onto the roof of a two-storey house.

Gardaí attended the incident at around 6.30pm.

The man moved up to the chimney area, where he remained for a time before being talked down by Gardai at about 8:30pm and was then taken into custody.

Afterwards, emergency service personnel examined the roof and chimney area using the powerful lights from the fire services extendable, hydraulic ladder.

The Mail Coach Road end of Temple Street was cordoned off while the operation was in progress but reopened at 9.15pm.
