Irish Rail rejects MEP’s claims that €12m has been spent on ‘storing’ unused carriages



Irish Rail has disputed claims by a north west MEP that it has cost €12m over the past six years to store 28 rail carriages that were not in use.

Speaking on North West Today, Marian Harkin said she wanted to know the real story behind the storage of the carriages, some of which, she felt, could be used to alleviate overcrowding on some trains on the Sligo/Dublin line.
