McConalogue: Delays in paying illness benefit ‘causing huge distress’

Delays in paying illness benefit are causing people in the North West huge distress.

That’s according to Donegal Deputy Charlie McConalogue, who is calling on the Minister for Social Protection to promptly address the situation.

The Fianna Fail spokesperson on Agriculture, Food and the Marine said that some payments are being delayed over three weeks while some people are only receiving partial payment.

Deputy McConalogue said while additional staff are to be allocated to deal with the situation, this needs to be done as a matter of urgency.
