
The Mayor of Donegal Town is calling on all politicians in the area to ensure the garda station in the town remains open 24-hours a day.
Padraig Kennedy is making the call following a Joint Policing Committee meeting last night at which the opening of the station for 12-hours a day was suggested.
Although gardai say they are trying to make better use of personnel and resources, Mr Kennedy says a reduction in opening hours would encourage criminals to visit the area.
