The imprisonment of Michael Collins in Sligo Gaol one hundred years ago will be marked by a special event this Sunday.
A grandniece of Collins’s, Mary Claire O’Malley, will unveil a portrait of her famous ancestor as part of a commemoration ceremony.
It’s part of a weekend of events, tickets for which may be obtained by logging onto the sligogaol.ie website. Ciaran McHugh spoke to the Francie Boylan Show about the various events this weekend as well as a children’s book “My Tale Untold” based on the experiences of a young female prisoner which is been launched tonight in the Clayton Hotel in Sligo.
