Imprisonment of Michael Collins in Sligo Gaol to be marked this weekend

The imprisonment of Michael Collins in Sligo Gaol one hundred years ago will be marked by a special event this Sunday.

A grandniece of Collins’s, Mary Claire O’Malley, will unveil a portrait of her famous ancestor as part of a commemoration ceremony.

It’s part of a weekend of events, tickets for which may be obtained by logging onto the website.

Tamlyn McHugh, chairperson of the group Friends of Sligo Gaol, has been telling Ocean FM News what they’re planning.
