Minister not due before Oireachtas Committee before September

Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed is not due to appear before the Agriculture Committee until September.

That’s despite calls by Fianna Fail for the Fine Gael Minister to attend an emergency meeting of the committee this month in light of the fodder crisis.

Fianna Fail spokesperson for Agriculture Charlie McConologue says he’s disappointed at the failure of the Minister to attend.

He says it shows the Minister’s failure to grasp the crisis.

Fianna Fail says it has a 12 point plan to avert the impending fodder crisis, which was published last month.

The party says while the Minister has adopted some of the measures, he needs to embrace the plan as a whole if a repeat of last winter is to be repeated.
